TWILIGHT FORECAST
The Best to Come in April 2026
From a biopic about the Greatest Pop Star in history, to the final season of two of the best shows of the century in The Boys and Hacks, April’s Twilight Forecast covers every Film, returning season, and new series we at the TwilightRoom will be checking out, and why we think you should check them out too. Whether its the first chance at a billion dollar movie this year or a straight-to-streaming disaster flick, we will be covering it all and seeing how our predictions stack up with the new releases’ execution this month.
April Week 1

Super Mario Galaxy Movie
After a smash-hit box office first film from the Super Mario IP, with quite a few voice acting complaints and a dumb, fun story, the franchise continues into space, and although the new film may not be a critical success by any means, its large budget and beautiful looking animation promises one of the first big children’s blockbusters of the year.
April 3 - Theaters - Twilight Prediction: 56/100

The Drama
The first of a slew of movies that star two of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood in Robert Pattinson and Zendaya, has been met with quite a bit of controversy before its official release date. A dark comedy premise that lingers around the upcoming marriage of a seemingly normal couple with a dark twist that has seemingly leaked after its world premiere, has caused some concerns as to which side of the line it is on – a concept not unfamiliar to A24. With a star-studded cast, perhaps the quality and complexity of the film will be the final say in determining which side of the line this new dark rom-com falls on.
April 3 - Theaters - Twilight Prediction: 70/100

Pizza Movie
Hulu’s next straight-to-streaming release comes on the heels of its SXSW premiere. The film is a college dorm comedy starring Stranger Things actor Gaten Matarazzo, following him and his best friend on a wild drug trip to retrieve a pizza from downstairs, and save their lives. It's a fun little comedy plot that sounds like a fun Friday night watch with a trailer that shockingly seems like an absolute blast.
April 3 - Hulu - Twilight Prediction: 77/100

That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4
The ever-expanding, character-adding anime about a godlike slime returns to Crunchyroll as the first of TwilightRoom’s spring anime coverage. The new season comes off the heels of a new movie recently released and the announcement that the show will have a record 60- episode season, promising content for one of the most unique mainstream anime’s. It’s not one of the most anticipated shows of the month, but it will be a mainstay over the next few months, and due to its episode-to-episode consistency, it certainly won’t be the worst thing releasing this month.
April 3 - Crunchyroll - Twilight Prediction: 76/100

Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2
Jon Hamm returns for Season 2 of his suburban thief show, which fits well into the type of show Apple has been pushing out the past few years, this time with James Marsden, seemingly getting him into things much higher-stakes than the show's Season 1. There is a lot that needs to go right for Apple TV to top the list of releasing shows, and this one certainly needs to take a step up in quality and writing to do so in its second season.
April 3 - Apple TV + - Twilight Prediction: 78/100

One Piece Elbaph Arc
One Piece has now become a seasonal anime to increase quality on an already top-of-the- line animation and story that is entering one of its biggest and most important arcs of all time in Elbaph. The first part of the Giant saga is the clear frontrunner for the best piece of media released in April, as it not only lists as the best anime currently releasing on many metrics, but is a personal favorite of the TwilightRoom.
April 4 - Crunchyroll - Twilight Prediction: 94/100
April Week 2

Witch Hat Atelier
One of the spring season’s new anime takes us through the events of Coco, a little girl’s, apprenticeship to becoming a witch after her dreams come true. With a beautiful animation style and manga that has gained popularity, the anime looks to be among the top of the new releases coming out in this wave of Crunchyroll animation.
April 6 - Crunchyroll - Twilight Prediction: 78/100

Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord
Darth Maul, after his initial appearance more than 2 decades ago in the Phantom Menace has become of the most popular and complex characters in the Star Wars universe, and now finally gets his own animated show depicting his life and uprise after the events of the Clone Wars that redeemed his character in the eyes of the fans. The show is the strongest opportunity yet for the IP to recapture the success and traction of its original animated series.
April 6 - Disney + - Twilight Prediction: 84/100

The Boys Season 5
If you are not all in on one of the greatest super hero/comic book TV shows of all time already, this is your sign to start binging now, as the Final Season of The Boys is set to premiere in April and surely will deliver a fantastic end to some of the most beloved and hated characters in all of fiction. The Trailer promises the gore and shock-factor mixed with pure emotion build up that has been pending for almost 8-years at this point, as The Boys Season 5 sits atop the list of most anticipated live-action shows of the spring.
April 8 - Prime Video - Twilight Prediction: 89/100

Hacks Season 5
Hacks has become the mainstay, top-of the-line 30-minute comedy series of the decade, and HBO is not slowing down with releasing new and quality seasons that are as endearing and heart-wrenching as they are hilarious. With Deborah and Ava returning to Las Vegas, the fifth season of the show marks the solidifying point of establishing Hacks as one of the best shows ever. If you haven’t checked this one out yet, this is a must watch from HBO that you are guaranteed to not regret.
April 9 - HBO MAX - Twilight Prediction: 86/100

Thrash
The first Netflix streaming film of the month is a hurricane horror- disaster film that seemingly turns into a shark horror film halfway through that cannot be more evident of a straight-to-streaming dumb, fun flick. However, the premise is quite hard not to check-out and even with a lack of good visuals in the trailer, a mix of disaster and shark horror is a must check out for many audiences including the TwilightRoom.
April 10 - Netflix - Twilight Prediction: 66/100

Exit 8
The horror-video game Exit 8 has become famous for its speed running and thus earned itself a movie adaptation whose trailer does not promise that much of a great film but certainly a faithful adaptation to the game. It's a film that really is going to be hit or miss depending on how they are able to build the narrative and leaves the TwilightRoom with luke-warm hopes of quality despite having excitement for another unique video game adaptation.
April 10 - Theaters - Twilight Prediction: 65/100

Outcome
Outcome is a Jonah Hill–directed, Keanu Reeves–starring comedy-drama with a wild ensemble cast, centered on a famous actor trying to regain his reputation while facing the fallout from everyone he has wronged in the past. It's a premise that certainly does not sit atop the list of intriguing plots for April, but a cast that may be the most star-studded of the month, gaining it some interest from the TwilightRoom and some decent hopes to see where Hill has gone next with his growing filmography.
April 10 - Apple TV + - Twilight Prediction: 71/100

Temptation Island Season 2
There is always one or two new reality show seasons that release each month and the closer to summer we get the closer we get to the more famous versions of them. This month’s Netflix release is their second rendition of Temptation Island, that we at the TwilightRoom like to call the palette cleanser. It's sure to be some low quality TV, that you find yourself unable to look away from at the same time, likely to be at the bottom of the months releases, sometimes some brain-off TV drama is what you need in your life, that is what we are looking for this new season to provide.
April 10 - Netflix - Twilight Prediction: 60/100

Malcolm in the Middle Life Isn’t Fair
A miniseries, throwing us into the adult lives of the Malcolm in the Middle family returns to Disney +, bringing back one of the most beloved sitcoms ever, a concept that never seems to work, ever, but hey here is to hoping. The new series shows us Malcolm’s new life explicitly avoiding his family, inevitably being brought back into the fray as the typical shenanigans resurface.
April 10 - Netflix - Twilight Prediction: 65/100

Euphoria Season 3
One of the world's most loved and wildly talked about shows of all time has taken a long hiatus as almost every actor has blown-up into new heights and largely successful careers, but finally returns for its Season 3. Many of the signs would tell you that this would be a failure of a season, but when that trailer dropped everyone hopped right back on the train of the addictive, erotic storyline that people can't seem to not obsess over, the TwilightRoom included. Euphoria Season 3 sits as one of the most anticipated shows of the year, let alone the month, and is one of the most up-in-the-air releases in a long time.
April 12 - HBO MAX - Twilight Prediction: 83/100

Wistoria Wand & Sword Season 2
Wistoria had an underrated and quieter rollout of its premiere season that sets up what resembles the new gen tradition of having much more than a main character- dominant series, and Season 2 returning has the TwilightRoom in hopes that we get the same level of animation and storytelling. Many of the new anime releases need a season or two to settle in and really establish a big following and high rating, making Wistoria's Season 2 crucial to the series’ success.
April 12 - Crunchyroll - Twilight Prediction: 81/100
April Week 3

Beef Season 2
The first season of Beef, established previously as a limited series, saw so much award success and general audience love that it is returning for a Season 2, but as an anthology show with an absolutely absurd cast of award-winners and up-and-coming A-listers. It's tough to see what really is going on in this series, but the high expectation for another stress- and anger-inducing season of Beef is absolutely undeniable.
April 16 - Netflix - Twilight Prediction: 80/100

Normal
A SXSW-premiered Bob Odenkirk thriller, with one of the worst names of the decade by far, doesn't have much going for it, despite the name of the same makers of John Wick and the oddly similar Nobody. Despite so much feeling unoriginal about this new film, early reactions and past success of the film maker push Normal to a solid prediction from the TwilightRoom regardless.
April 17 - Theaters - Twilight Prediction: 76/100

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy
A new Mummy horror movie from Lee Cronin that is under the same IP of the original legendary thriller is all you need to know to go to the theaters and check this new release out. April always brings a mixed-bag of films to theaters and this one sits at the very top of the list for horror fans and the TwilightRoom alike.
April 17 - Theaters - Twilight Prediction: 82/100

Mother Mary
A24’s new genre-mix is a David Lowery directed, Anne Hathaway starring, horror, thriller, music-mix, that takes the pursuit of the perfect dress for a concert performance far further into a psychedelic experience, is certainly one of the more complex upcoming release-of-the-month and truly could be a huge hit or a big disaster. Let's all hope for the latter as the actor-director combo sounds undeniably awesome.
April 17 - Theaters - Twilight Prediction: 78/100

From Season 4
From is one of the best horror-thriller shows currently releasing, and from the executive producers of Lost always has the chance to deliver a spectacular or lackluster new season of its series. There is certainly a mountain to climb in order to catch-up before this season airs but it is one that new audiences should add to their list, and current fans are heavily anticipating.
April 19 - MGM+ - Twilight Prediction: 84/100
April Week 4

This is a Gardening Show
A Zac Galifianakis gardening show that is marketed as refreshing and peaceful is one of the wildest concepts of the year so far, and may remain that way. You may never hear of this show again but it certainly caught the eye of the TwilightRoom and we will be the first to report if something awesome comes of this peaceful and absurd concept.
April 22 - Netflix - Twilight Prediction: 77/100

Running Point Season 2
Running Point’s first season was one of the shocks of early 2025 and a show that is consistently recommended to sports-comedy lovers that are running out of content. A Season 2 was inevitable and one that really needs to hit for this show to fully take off. April 23rd will be the day to see if Running Point was a one-off surprise or a new budding sports comedy from Netflix.
April 23 - Netflix - Twilight Prediction: 77/100

Stranger Things 85
Stranger Things is a personal favorite of the TwilightRoom and even when the mainstream audience criticized its final season, this site defended it, but a new animated show that continues the story between Seasons 2 & 3 is such an odd choice. We say don’t touch it, but the Duffer’s insist on this story so we will be seated and ready for hopefully the quality of the original show. High hopes, but prepared for the worst for this animated Stranger Things spin-off.
April 23 - Netflix - Twilight Prediction: 80/100

Michael
There are many outlets and fans extremely excited for the Michael Jackson biopic, but the TwilightRoom is skeptical of the biopic of the biggest pop-star in the world. Not only do the trailers raise many red flags, but the acting and directing names attached really don’t make an overdone biopic genre film exciting in the slightest. Hopefully, my sentiment here is wrong, and this turns into a huge hit, but the TwilightRoom just really can’t see it.
April 24 - Theater - Twilight Prediction: 64/100

Apex
A new hunt-or-be-hunted horror flick with Tarren Edgerton is coming to Netflix in Apex, that looks as generic as you would expect from this type of release, and one that may feel more like a checklist film for the month than one that has much anticipation. There is however one or two surprises from Netflix in this genre a year so let's all hope Apex is one of them.
April 24 - Netflix - Twilight Prediction: 55/100

Over Your Dead Body
Over Your Dead Body has a larger review on TwilightRoom after its world premiere at SXSW, and it is something you absolutely cannot miss in the theaters. A husband and wife both find out they want to kill each other at their cabin, starring Samara Weaving and Jason Segel, but things go much more awry than the starting premise and it's a comedic and thriller ride from start-to-finish, we cannot recommend enough for a Friday night feature.
April 24 - Theater - Twilight Rating: 85.8/100
April Week 5

Widow’s Bay - April 29
Widow’s Bay is one of the best-marketed shows of the month dropping sneak peaks to the Matthew Rhys-staring series that places him on a cursed New England island as he tries to turn the place around. It has a very ominous marketing strategy that convinced us at the TwilightRoom to toss it on the Watchlist immediately, and one quick look at the teasers and it will likely cause you to do the same.
April 29 - Apple TV + - Twilight Rating: 81/100

Man on Fire
Yahya Abdul-Mateen did an amazing job in Marvel’s Wonder Man and now gets to headline another one of his own shows, this time an action-packed soldier series for Netflix that seems to fit the bill of many others in the genre, but will hopefully stand apart from the rest thanks to its mix of new and established leading talent.
