1. Invincible Season 4 Episode 8
92/100 – Prime Video – Season Complete
The best show of the year so far has come to an end with what was marketed and for the most part turned out to be an epilogue episode of Mark and Nolan’s return to earth after the battle on Viltrum. However, really valuable character work is brought in here with Debbie going off world for the first time with Nolan, Eve and Mark’s reunion, and the flashbacks and PTSD of Thragg that end in a scary and tone setting confrontation for seasons to come between Mark and Thragg. It’s a great way to end the season and doesn’t deliver the action but certainly delivers the depth and brutality that everyone loves from Invincible. We haven’t addressed concerns about the animation much at all during our weekly reviews of the show despite it being a big talking point, and although it clearly didn’t affect our viewing experience an upgrade in quality would transform this show into the absolute best animated series ever.
2. The Boys Season 5 Ep. 4
90/100 – Prime Video – Next Ep. April 29 – 3 AM*
It is not uncommon for the Twilight Room to love an episode of a huge returning show that many people criticize, and the Boys episode 4 is a perfect example. Slandered ratings and talk of the plot being stagnant simply are just cover ups for audiences being mad about no deaths or not getting what they personally want, as this episode delivers some of the best character to character dialogue and development we have gotten in a long time for a character not named homelander or butcher. Annie’s storyline here is quite slow and why the episode is not at the top of the ranks, but Soldier Boy & Billy Butcher’s conversations with Homelander as he is weakened is so powerful and Hughie’s final decision to put his foot down against the corruption within the boys is what we have needed in a show that initially started off with him as the main character. I look forward to the rest of the season as episode 4 did a great job really signifying where our main characters stand going into the final battle of sorts.
3. Daredevil Born Again Season 2 Ep. 6
90/100 – Disney + – Next Ep. April 28 – 9:00 PM*
Episode 5 was a huge success and dialed up the emotions to the max, but what it left us with in episode 6, Fisk saying one phrase all episode and Matt leaving Bullseye with Karen are some of the best and tension-filled moments in the show’s history. Not to mention a fight between Daredevil and Fisk that brings back that old Netflix feel along with the reintroduction of Jessica Jones, this episode has it all and it knocks it out of the park. Kingpin is going insane clearly and everyone around him needs to pick a side, with Karen in danger, Matt is going to be morally tested once again as the final 3 episodes of the season are setting up for a finale between the longest standing rivalry in comic book media as it sits. Episode 6 sits at the top of our Daredevil rankings so far and sets up for even better and more complex to come.
4. One Piece Ep. 1159
88/100 – Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 3 – 7:15 AM*
As the crew starts to figure out how they landed in this lego land and likely how to get out and see Elbaph for the first time they run from a giant who claims to be the sun god, highlighting the power scaling for Zoro, Sanji, Ussop, and most importantly Nami who is the star of the episode using Zeus to defeat the giant as the crew finally breaks through the fake kingdom’s walls. It’s the best episode of the arrival in Elbaph yet, and with the appearance of one of the show’s longest awaited characters next episode, it may just be the start of a run that sets one piece up at the top of the list for weeks to come.
5. Hacks Season 5 Ep. 3
87/100 – HBO MAX – Next Ep. April 30 – 9 PM*
Deborah and Ava both find new arm candy for this episode ahead of a las vegas wedding that really highlights the show’s excited return to the city the craze of Hacks all started in. With the addition of two new actors that do a great job at indulging in the comedy and jumping out at the perfect moment, this episode fits the mold nicely as the show blends stand alone comedy bits with an overarching plotline seamlessly. It is yet another entertaining episode at the start of the final season of one of the most successful shows critically, that is currently airing, as episode 3, in our opinion, does the best job yet of really pulling this all together. It is clear the season is moving towards a big MSG performance that will end the show hopefully on a high note, but these smaller episodes on the way to the finale are delivering just as well as they always have.
6. Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord Ep. 5 & 6
86.0/100 – Disney + – Next Ep. April 27 – 12:00 AM*
Each week Maul Shadow lord gets better and better with increased attention to animation, and better development for both Devon the shows destined to be apprentice of Maul and Daki, her current Jedi sensei. It’s a complex tale within the Star Wars universe that brings the Empire in to clean up the mess the police force supposedly has left, sending the inquisitor Merrick after both Jedi and Maul. The more we move through the story the more we see the life of a jedi under the empire’s rule is a brutal one that leads to changing of morals to live a life beyond just survival. Episodes 5 & 6 project all three of the main characters as differing opinions on how to live with their power and its one of the best concepts Star Wars has had in years. That along with the extremely well designed and animated lightsaber fights makes the middle of Maul Shadow lord a huge success with two weeks of episode rollouts left to go.
7. Euphoria Season 3 Ep. 3
86/100 – HBO MAX – Next Ep. May 3 – 9:00 PM*
Euphoria Season 3 has been controversial and a real tough one to review from Sam Levinson, but Episode 3 is one of the most solid entries for a long time for the series, as a whole. An uncomfortable storyline for Jules blends with a troubled path for Rue, all under the eyes of the chaotic wedding of Nate and Cassie. Episode 3 does an excellent job of showing how everything from the first two seasons has scarred these characters. Brilliant lighting and camera shots whether it’s Sydney Sweeney positioned in front of Elordi getting beaten in the yellow back drop of their home, or the beauty of the over the top 40k flowers that Cassie has made such a big deal over. Episode 3 is a hit from us at the TwilightRoom and if the quality and vibe that Levinson instills into this episode is what is provided every week the show certainly will redeem its rocky start.
8. Wistoria Wand & Sword Season 2 Ep. 3
85/100 – Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 3 – 12:30 AM*
As more students, civilians, and professors are devastated by the invasion, episode 3 provides the best episode of the season so far by a large margin, placing Will in front of another sacrifice and having him reach his breaking point. Will uses magic per se for the first time by instilling courage into a white sword gifted to him, as he storms through the streets, a transformed version of himself destroying and protecting everyone in danger. It felt like we have been waiting for 15 episodes at this point to highlight Will’s underlying power that was clearly dormant and it pays off here, with the same great animation, but now with heightened emotional stakes and a buff to our main character’s power to fight back. If Wistoria can maintain this level of quality week to week the show is due for success and needs more publicity as it has set itself up for a season 2 that will be at the top of the list of new generation releases, and the top of the Spring 2026 anime slate.
9. Rooster Ep. 8
85/100 – HBO MAX – Next Ep. May 3
– 10:00 PM*
Rooster has been excellent and sharply written for the last few weeks, and that continues here as Greg leans into a more genuine father-figure role with his favorite student, in an episode that foregrounds student–teacher relationships while still delivering a steady stream of clever comedy. Katie & Archie’s relationship continues to become more and more distant as the season moves on, which is for the best, but also leaves room for both characters to grow in a really complex and clever way, that is really fitting for the type of show they are trying to create here. With two episodes left, I’m really hoping this show is here to stay, and a pair of fun, same‑vibe installments is exactly what it needs to stick the landing.
10. Abbott Elementary Season 5 Ep. 21 & 22
84.0/100 – Hulu – Season Complete
It’s been a long time as Abbott moved through its fifth season, with many breaks and storylines, but the season finally comes to an end with a two episode rollout that has Gregory and Janine getting back together, and the whole crew traveling to Miami for a convention that puts the school at risk of being removed. It’s a great reconcile episode that resolves one of the more stressful storylines the show has had this season, while adding to the list of out of Philadelphia episodes that are always a switch up but never disappoint. Provided with two solid episodes that highlight the exact formula Abbott does best is a great way to end a season that did not elevate the series but certainly maintained the level of quality that audiences of all ages have come to expect from it. 5 seasons into the show and another great finale cements Abbott as one of the best 20 minute comedy shows of all time.
11. Running Point Season 2
81.5.0/100 – Netflix– Season Complete
Season 1 of Running Point was a real shock, the show was funny and great and fashionably on time to replace Ted lasso as a newer sports related comedy drama, but it simply did not receive the attention it deserved. In season two that has Isla Gordan played by Cameron Diaz face some criticism from the ex-president and brother who returns from rehab claiming to be clean and supportive but far from it. The show pits Isla in a soon to be marriage she isn’t as sure of, a tough season ahead as her team looks to win the championship, and troubles balancing her personal life and work life. Season 2 is even better than season one, its funny all the time, and while not nuanced or complex its simplicity is entertaining and fun, the perfect weekend binge watch to capture your attention and constantly want more of. Running Point continues to be an underrated netflix show and with its season 2 taking a step in the right direction, hopefully will gain enough traction to continue the blast of a series for more seasons to come.
12. Monarch Legacy of Monsters Season 2 Ep. 9
81/100 – Apple TV+ – Next Ep. April 30 – 10 PM*
As the seeming battle between Titan X and Godzilla nears skull island and and new threat that isnt one of the main two scientific factions reveals motives of killing Kong and using Titan X, episode 9 delivers the best episode of a convoluted and rough season 2 from Monarch. The action sequences are back, the interactions between human and monster and the morality of fighting back or fighting with is the most present, pushing the premise finally in the correct direction. As godzilla decides simply to swim Titan X back to skull island where it belongs we see a great scene that maintains the character development while providing spectacle, it’s a smash hit of an episode that stands alone as the only episode of season 2 that really delivers on what is promised, there is some hope going into the finale next week.
13. Imperfect Women Episode 7
81/100 – Apple TV+ – Next Ep. April 28 – 9 PM*
Things are unraveling, different characters are accusing each other and after a rocky start that really didn’t pull in audiences attention, the back end of Imperfect Women has actually been a fun and intriguing crime mystery. Marsha is clearly unraveling, and going insane here as her husband is not who she thought he was, and her jealousy for her dead best friend and possible one-sided love interest grows larger and larger. More and more characters are revealing their true colors and with a final scene that reveals a new video that implicates neither Marsha or her husband but instead the husband Robert as running from the scene of the crime, the show has so many fun threads that it’s placing in front of its audience. It’s tough to defend a series that had 4 episodes of struggle before it found its intrigue especially when a source material that is already successful is out there instead, but if we are ranking and rating episodes, imperfect woman has clearly been night and day better in its second half.
14. Survivor Season 50 Ep. 9
81/100 – Hulu/Paramount+ – Next Ep. April 29 – 8 PM*
There have been quite a few gimmicks and twists to season 50 and we at the twilight room have been generally positive, and even this episode had its strengths and fun that keeps its rating at an 81, but the Jimmy Fallon twist may have been the worst introduced this season so far. It feels like every episode is a new way to mess with this cast that has the ability to entertain on its own, Jeff and the show makers are getting dangerously close to ruining the most exciting season their show may have ever had. As we move closer to the end the fun and intrigue is still there, but the gimmicks need to go and the gameplay needs to be at the forefront for an ending to be great.
15. Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 Ep.4
80/100 – Apple TV+ – Next Ep. April 30
– 8:00 PM*
As more pressure is placed on Coop to further his relationship with Owen and help him with some shady business while being blackmailed, the season moves to an inflection point, as there needs to be some movement forward for season 2 to reach the level of season one’s quality. Apple TV is continuing to deliver interesting and engaging episodes of the Jon Hamm starring suburban heist show, but is failing to move forward towards a larger storyline as well as expected here four episodes in, and its slowly causing concern for where this show is going. When you have quality writing and a quality premise you just need to deliver a quality storyline to maintain the level of engagement needed for many future seasons, and the back half of the season will really show whether the series can achieve that.
16. Stranger Things: Tales From '85
78.9/100 – Netflix – Series Complete
A full review of the new animated Stranger Things spin off shows that slots in between season’s 2 & 3 is up on the Twilight Room for more detail. The show is a new take on many of the characters adding new voice actors and sometimes new mannerisms to the beloved cast that really held this show back from its more successful live action counterpart. The animation does bring the ability for more fun and entertaining set pieces unachievable especially with Eleven’s powers, and the hive mind spore beasts that highlight the season provide a fun isolated storyline, making the fairly quick turn around release from season 5 slightly better than anticipated. There are glaring flaws, and the addition of the new characters was serviceable but not good enough to warrant the decision to almost break canon for them, characters are butchered in scenes and handled well in others, and the nostalgia is there, but its such a mixed bag overall that it sits pretty low in our list this week.
17. Witch Hat Atelier Ep. 4
78/100 – Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 4 – 7 AM*
A fairly ordinary episode of Witch Hat Atelier released this week after a highlight episode 3, where we see Qifrey teach Coco about controlling the magic circles she draws. It’s an episode that doesn’t do much at all besides just enter back to the peaceful life the story is likely going to sit in for the majority of its season. However, there is mention of the forbidden magic that gets Coco into this journey in the first place and the clear intrigue of the story so far, if the show can start to move more into this forbidden storyline I can see a lot of success in future episodes of the series. A pretty common episode showcasing the simple nature of the premise and peaceful tone to the animation style but lacks the level of storytelling needed to sit higher on this list.
18. That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 4 Ep. 4
78/100 – Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 8 – 7 AM*
In That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4, Episode 4, the focus shifts heavily toward political tension and diplomacy as Rimuru continues navigating Tempest’s growing influence. Other nations must decide whether to include the town full of monsters in their consulting committee, making the episode very dialogue heavy, but much more interesting and containing substance than its first three releases. Slime has been constantly sitting lower on our TV Weeklys because of its lack of originality after going through the same episode every week for four seasons, and we are impatiently waiting for a change in tone or action to bring the anime back to life.
19. Dr. Stone Season 4 Ep. 28
76/100 –Crunchyroll – Next Ep. April 30 – 6 AM*
After a more criticized episode last week from us at the Twilight Room for Dr. Stone the season is seemingly dropping the narrative and type of storytelling that gained some expectation in favor of the typical big cast, basic scientific lifestyle story that simply is not as attention grabbing anymore compared to other anime and shows on this list. With anime not only doing other concepts better this season, but also anime’s doing the same concepts better than Dr.Stone, episode 28 shoots to the bottom of the list feeling more unoriginal as the end of season 4 progresses.
20. This is a Gardening Show
75.2/100 –Netflix – Season Complete
Zach Galifianakis’ gardening show sits at the bottom of this list not for its quality but simply because it’s a short little hour and a half docuseries from Netflix that provides a nice background show for a Sunday afternoon. Yes its simple, and yes its quite comedic especially if you like this style of family friendly comedy, but it’s not a fully realized show and thus why it sits here, a 100% recommendation for background television but that’s all there really is to it.
