1. Widow's Bay Ep. 4

87/100
– Apple TV+ – Next Ep. May 19 – 9 PM*
Poster for the October 2026 TV show Widows Bay, featuring Matthew Rhys holding a folder at a desk in a library.

Widow’s Bay has been steadily building both traction and unease through its first three episodes, but it’s not until the fourth, centered on a local woman cast out by her former classmates, that the series truly dives into the horror and deception of this creepy, ghastly presence and the hold it exerts on both the story and its audience. Episode 4 is great, it’s one of the best original horror episodes in a while, something so hard to do week by week, but so well executed here. There is such uncertainty in the plot of this show having creepy things occur from every angel and every character with little to no explanation. By telling the story through the delusion of the characters and not the reality, we the audience feel like locals ourselves, creeped out with no idea what was going on. This week has been slower for TV, but Widow’s Bay nonetheless tops our list for the first time in its brief run, firmly establishing itself as one of the standout shows currently airing with half a season still to go.

2. One Piece Ep. 1162

87/100
– Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 24 – 7:15 AM*
Luffy and his crew in Viking-inspired outfits, featuring Luffy in a horned helmet and fur cape, surrounded by his companions against a backdrop of chains and a vintage map, reminiscent of characters in October 2026 movies and TV.

One Piece is getting consistently better as the crew explores more and more of Elbaph Island, with this episode offering yet another expansion of the vast landscape they now find themselves a part of, as Luffy leaves Loki behind, seemingly in search of the key that can free him from his chains. That makes the episode’s lighter, happier tone all the more refreshing, with a dark threat soon to arrive on the island and endanger the very existence of the Straw Hats, and the story itself, so it’s a gift to get one or two more episodes of peace with our favorite characters before the full weight of the anime’s biggest arc settles in.

3. Euphoria Season 3 Ep. 6

84/100
– HBO MAX – Next Ep. May 24 – 9:00 PM*
A woman relaxes in the passenger seat of a truck with her legs propped on the dashboard to promote the third season of Euphoria, arriving in April 2026 ahead of the October 2026 movies and TV season.

Episode 6 of Euphoria is a more well shot and smarter version of episode 5 that really dives into Rue’s character well and her seeming redemption, as well Cassie’s struggle to leave her OnlyFans job behind as she fights for the main spotlight as an actor. There is this clear drug plot between Alamo and Laurie but that is simply not the draw here, Rue’s scene with her mother on the phone, and her quietly staring at that furry cactus, is some of the most nuanced character study and commentary on her we’ve had so far. I’m not convinced this season as a whole is a success, and Episode 6 is hardly a homerun, but there are still stretches that brush up against something brilliant in both the cinematography and Zendaya’s performance.

4. Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 Ep.7

84/100
– Apple TV+ – Next Ep. May 21 – 8:00 PM*
A close-up of Jon Hamm holding a large black glove up to the camera, advertising the October 2026 series Your Friends & Neighbors.

After a fairly disastrous attempt at a plot pivot last week — one that left viewers on a solemn note without much actually happening — episode 7 stands out as the season’s best so far. This time, Coop and the core ensemble head to Ashe’s sprawling mansion for a party that spirals into FBI raids, rekindled relationships, jealousy, arrests, and fresh blackmail, finally delivering the kind of plot momentum and dramatic escalation we at TwilightRoom have been waiting for from this series. This show has so much potential and it really delivers on that potential here, and with where we are left here at the end of the episode, the rest of the season looks to be pretty messy and exciting moving forward.

5. Hacks Season 5 Ep. 8

83/100
– HBO MAX – Next Ep. May 21 – 9 PM*
Poster for the final season of the Max Original series Hacks, featuring two women standing before the Bellagio fountains, premiering April 9 on HBO Max as a highlight among October 2026 movies and TV.

Hacks had a pretty down week last week with its two-episode rollout that does not align with the quality of most of the rest of the show, but Episode 8 returns to the one episode release per week. Stranding Deborah in a glass box at a magic show during a Las Vegas power outage, all in the name of promoting her new show, is exactly the kind of high‑concept premise that captures why Hacks works so well, and it’s strong enough to bump the series back up to where we typically rank it on our lists. The storyline away from Ava and Deborah continues to lag well behind our two leads and is becoming a real problem as the series heads toward its conclusion. But whenever the two award‑winning women share the screen, the sharp writing and comedic dialogue still feel effortless, and Episode 8 delivers that dynamic as well as ever.

6. Devil May Cry Season 2

82.4/100
– Netflix – Season Complete
Promotional poster for the Netflix animated series Devil May Cry Season 2, featuring a character holding a handgun in front of a large number two, with text announcing that the next season is coming soon.

Devil May Cry Season 2 returns with another high‑octane, rock needle‑drop action run that does a great job expanding the lore of this game adaptation. We see much more of the dynamic between Dante and Lady, while also meeting a higher‑stakes antagonist and Vergil, Dante’s long‑lost brother. While it’s slightly weaker than season one, it’s still a strong season of television, and TwilightRoom has a more in‑depth review of the full season for you to check out!

7. Witch Hat Atelier Ep. 7

82/100
– Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 18 – 7 AM*
Anime poster for the October 2026 series Witch Hat Atelier, featuring characters in wizard hats, a blonde protagonist holding a pen, and the text No one can ever know The Witchs Absolute Secret.

Episode 7 shifts the focus of Witch Hat Atelier to Agott, who finally gets a chance to prove her abilities when a nearby village is put in danger. The episode then pivots toward a hint of where the series may be headed, as Coco uses magic to create sand to help them escape the threat of a waterfall and accidentally casts a spell larger than life, revealing just how deeply she has been marked by her earlier brush with forbidden magic. What continues to present itself as a gentle, coming‑of‑age “kids drawing magic” anime proves week after week that it is far more than that, using its great animation to build genuinely compelling lore and storytelling. Episode 7 is yet another great example of a solid episode from this new series.

8. Wistoria Wand & Sword Season 2 Ep. 6

82/100
– Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 24 – 12:30 AM*
Anime promotional poster for Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2, featuring a character standing on a stone balcony, with text announcing an October 2026 premiere.

Wistoria Season 2 Episode 6 continues the upward trend the series has been quietly building toward over the last few weeks, finally giving Will and the supporting cast a stronger sense of urgency and emotional momentum that has been lacking at points this season. The episode balances its larger magical conflict with some really strong character interactions and power reveals, helping the world and stakes feel much more alive than they did again in the first season. While the series still hasn’t fully separated itself from the typical fantasy anime formula, episodes like this one show flashes of the bigger and more impactful story it clearly wants to become.

9. Survivor Season 50 Ep. 12

81/100
– Hulu/Paramount+ – Next Ep. May 20 – 8 PM*
A fiery anniversary poster for Survivor 50 featuring iconic contestants surrounding the host, celebrating the long-running reality series’ legacy of competition, strategy, and survival.

As Survivor moves toward its live, in‑person finale next week, this week’s episode lands as one of the saddest in recent memory, with both Cirie and Devens voted out in the same episode. We’ve been on record at TwilightRoom saying this season has been unusually lucky with its boot order and with how many of its unnecessary twists have ultimately shaken out in its favor, delivering strong television despite far too much intervention, but that luck finally runs dry here as the two most entertaining players exit just before the finale, leaving fans understandably anxious about what’s left. Still, that’s how these shows sometimes break, and with a final five set and a new Sole Survivor about to be crowned, we at TwilightRoom can’t help but be over‑the‑moon excited for the first live, in‑person finale in a year.

10. On The Roam Season 2 Ep. 1

81/100
– HBO MAX – Next Ep. May 21 – 9 PM*
Promotional poster for the Max Original series On the Roam, featuring Jason Momoa, with text announcing a new season premiere on May 14, ahead of the October 2026 movies and TV schedule.

HBO Max puts these reality travel shows out with a bunch of niche celebrities every year and some are much better than others, but the most appealing in our opinion at TwilightRoom, has been Jason Momoa’s rich man’s American Pickers journey to look at all the cool collectibles and media he enjoys around the United States. It’s a simple premise that repeats itself, but it’s always fun and a welcome break from the week’s more high‑intensity shows. With the first episode centering on a rock band trying to make it and getting a boost from Momoa, season 2 picks up right where season 1 left off and remains a huge recommendation from us at TwilightRoom as one of the more underrated reality docuseries on television.

11. The Boys Season 5 Ep. 7

80/100
– Prime Video – Next Ep. May 20 – 3 AM*
Homelander from The Boys floats in space above Earth in a promotional graphic for the October 2026 final season.

Wow, in one of the most disappointing twists of the year another episode of the final season of The Boys delivers an extremely lackluster continuation of the plot, trapping its audience with no other feelings but to worry for how they are going to wrap up this huge conflict in one more episode. Episode 7 sees The Boys trying to recover from Homelander obtaining the V1, and they do so slowly, and without much traction, as Marie Moreau is finally introduced and Soldier Boy is placed back in the chamber he began the season in. Frankie’s death is emotional but we get nowhere besides this moment, and the Butcher and Hughie relationship continues to go in a quite annoying circle as of late. The TwilightRoom began this season defending the decisions and the episodes, and while episodes are still entertaining a final season needs to provide more here, and episode 7 is yet another example of it falling very short.

12. Dr. Stone Season 4 Ep. 31

79/100
–Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 21 – 6 AM*
A group of anime characters standing in front of a large weekly rocket.

Dr. Stone has gone stagnant, to say the least, over the past few weeks, but every so often there’s a step up in storytelling that shines through and nudges the show’s stock slightly higher, and episode 31 of this “science future” arc is one of those cases. It serves as the climax of the moon‑mission preparations, centering on the dangers of using the Medusa device. It’s nothing especially new or groundbreaking, but it lands a bit better than the recent weekly installments, which is why it sits higher on this week’s list. Here’s hoping the journey to the moon is the jolt of life this series needs to fully find its footing again.

13. Good Omens 3

78/100
– Prime Video – Season Complete
Poster for the October 2026 TV release Good Omens Season 3, featuring Aziraphale with a halo on the left and Crowley with flaming horns on the right, starring Michael Sheen and David Tennant.

With some huge changes in the production of this season, including a director being fired, and most of the show being scrapped, what arrives this week is effectively a new season 3 in name only, playing more like a 90‑minute finale and epilogue to the two‑season fantasy series on Prime Video. Good Omens has always sat somewhere in the middle of the road, landing hardest for the specific crowd that clicks with its comedy and gently modernized, witty take on the divine. But with a notably sloppy final stretch to close out the story, this last outing takes a clear step down in quality. Sure the fun, personified version of angels and demons is still quite fun and why this does not sit at last on our list for this week or the year by any means, but a single 90‑minute episode is nowhere near enough runway for a season this unusual. Instead of shifting the perception of the show in a positive direction, that compressed runtime barely moves the needle at all. It does, however, land on a quite sweet note, with the final 15 minutes ending the show on a warm, emotional beat that should at least leave its most devoted audience satisfied, as our two main characters arrive at an ending that feels genuinely earned and fulfilling.

14. That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 4 Ep. 6

78/100
– Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 22 – 7 AM*
Rimuru Tempest and Milim Nava face off amidst splashing water and dark magic effects in this scene from the October 2026 movies and TV landscape.

Rimuru begins to realize that neighboring nations are starting to challenge both his rule and his kingdom’s entry into the broader coalition. It’s a classic strategic positioning episode, focused on political maneuvering, future war planning, and how this fledgling power intends to respond. As with another long‑running anime on this list, it’s a slight uptick from the recent run of lackluster weekly releases, but not distinct enough to suggest the series has fully corrected course yet. Similar to Dr. Stone, we will see in the coming weeks of this is the beginning of an improvement in the current season or just a one-off, slight step up.

15. Perfect Match Season 4 Ep. 1 - 5

77/100
– Netflix – Next Ep. May 21 – 12 AM
Promotional poster for the TV Weekly May 11 17 Netflix reality series Perfect Match, featuring a group of young adults relaxing on a beach.

Perfect Match is one of the biggest dating shows of the past few years, essentially an all‑star arena for some of the most popular and attractive contestants pulled from various reality franchises. It’s easily as entertaining and messy as you’d expect, delivering exactly the kind of juicy, trash‑TV chaos its premise promises, and that’s very much part of its appeal. It’s undeniably fun and pulls in a large audience because of that, and this season does a much better job responding to the criticism aimed at season 3, but it still can’t deliver enough real impact to place any higher than last on our list of new releases. It’s also clear that these shows are still chasing Love Island for the top spot in the reality‑dating space, and haven’t come particularly close yet.
