1. One Piece Ep. 1163
89/100 – Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 31 – 7:15 AM*
After weeks building toward Robin and Saul’s reunion, with a devastating flashback to Robin’s past and a renewed focus on her will to live, this arc finally brings the Straw Hats to Elbaf together for the first time since Wano. The new seasonal release slate for One Piece makes it clear the series isn’t always aiming for the kind of climactic season finales other anime lean on, but it also reinforces that we’re getting a fantastic, well-animated episode almost every week, and episode 1163 stands out as the best of the year so far and the clear highlight of this week’s list.
2. The Boys Season 5 Ep. 8
87/100 – Prime Video – Series Complete
Perhaps the most controversial episode of the year so far, The Boys Series finale released this week with many fans either hating it to death, loving it and being satisfied with the ending, or sitting somewhere in between. At TwilightRoom, we came in on the higher side, though not nearly as enthusiastic as some, as our frustrations with the season deepened over time, but the finale still did an impressive job of wrapping up many of the show’s best characters in ways that felt fun, gloriously gory, and surprisingly wholesome. Sure, there was absolutely more the season could have done in its first seven episodes to set up a finale that felt truly groundbreaking and elevated the series into all‑timer territory, but that simply isn’t what we got, so, judged on its own terms, this finale was not just serviceable, it was genuinely great. Hughie and Starlight’s full-circle ending lands beautifully, the final clash between Butcher and Homelander is deeply satisfying after years of tension, and with our four main leads meeting either wild deaths, bittersweet exits, or hard-won happy endings, it was almost impossible not to place the finale of one of TV’s greatest shows at the top of this week’s list.
3. On The Roam Season 2 Ep. 2
86/100 – HBO MAX – Next Ep. May 28 – 9 PM*
After a solid return, one of HBO’s best celebrity travel shows, On the Roam, continues with Momoa visiting longtime friend and acclaimed director Julian Schnabel ahead of his new film In the Hand of Dante, and it’s a great example of how a dark, gritty yet curious production that stays fresh within a consistent lane of interests can make for an engaging week‑to‑week watch. On the Roam began as a breakout, under-the-radar gem and more than justified its renewal; season two keeps delivering episodes built around intriguing art, collectibles, and artists who feel new and exciting, yet aligned enough in sensibility to hold onto the same devoted viewers.
4. Witch Hat Atelier Ep. 8
85/100 – Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 25 – 7 AM*
Qifrey has quietly become one of the most intriguing characters in anime over the past few weeks, with his true motives as a “hero” growing increasingly uncertain. Episode 8 muddies those waters again in the most entertaining way possible, deepening the ambiguity around whether his intentions are genuinely pure or hiding something far darker. Dealing with the backlash from Coco’s accidental use of forbidden magic, Qifrey discovers that the ink bottle she has been using has been tampered with. Rather than reporting it, he once again pockets the bottle and erases an expert’s memory, pushing his already murky ethics into even grayer territory. The episode is exceptionally well crafted, and the lore has grown far richer than expected, making episode 8 not only one of the show’s best hours but one of the standout episodes of this entire anime season. If it can sustain this momentum, the series has a real shot at becoming a new anime‑of‑the‑year frontrunner.
5. Hacks Season 5 Ep. 9
85/100 – HBO MAX – Next Ep. May 28 – 9 PM*
Hacks returns for its penultimate episode with Deborah’s big Madison Square Garden show, only to have it shut down by her former contractor, forcing a pivot to a Central Park performance that perfectly captures the more wholesome side of the series the writers have been steering toward. Episode 9 ranks among the best this season and one of the show’s standout chapters, setting up a fantastic finale next week that looks to land on a bittersweet but ultimately happy note, with just enough room left to imagine a future spinoff. Deborah finally getting what she deserves and to do her performance in front of a huge crowd really does make episode 9 one of the most wholesome episodes of the show, and vaults it near the top of this week’s TV Weekly list for the TwilightRoom.
6. Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed Ep. 1 & 2
84.0/100 – Apple TV + – Next Ep. May 26 – 9:00 PM*
Tatiana Maslany anchors a new Apple TV+ series about a mother caught in a web of online exploitation and blackmail, blending psychological horror with a crime plot that quickly proves far more dangerous than it first appears. It’s one of Apple TV+’s strongest launches in quite some time, setting up a genuinely gripping new thriller. Our character Paula is a middle aged woman looking to regain control over her career and time with her daughter after a divorce, starting the plot on unsteady ground, as she gets taken advantage of in an online sexting scam that really kicks off the show on an incredibly unique start, that blends domestic drama, horror, and crime in a uniquely effective way. Much of this first season’s future success will depend on how the series handles Paula’s arc and the increasingly dangerous crime web she’s been pulled into, but as a debut two‑episode drop it lands near the top of our list. It’s already one of our most anticipated shows as we close out May and head into the June summer season.
7. Euphoria Season 3 Ep. 7
84/100 – HBO MAX – Next Ep. May 31 – 9:00 PM*
What a tantalizing penultimate episode from Euphoria season 3, as we begin to see the lines of our main characters drawn and crossed all over the place, as well as the death of one of the most popular characters from the show’s history in Nate Jacobs. There’s still a lot left to be desired in these Euphoria episodes; while some land better than others, the luster and addictive pull the show once had just isn’t there anymore. But that final scene, with Maddy and Cassie fully realizing the damage they’ve done and the way their lives are now permanently altered, is one of the wildest, most gut‑punch moments the series has delivered. With many of Sam Levinson’s big conceptual swings this season landing as cruder and less effective than intended, Euphoria Season 3 is easily the show’s weakest run, and episode 7 often falls into those same traps, yet it still manages to stand out as a genuinely tantalizing installment.
8. Survivor Season 50 Ep. 13
84/100 – Hulu/Paramount+ – Season Complete
With a live finale marked by a production slip‑up and a $2 million win for one of the show’s most beloved returning players, Survivor Season 50 ends exactly where it began: delivering the same brand of consistent, crowd‑pleasing reality chaos it maintained all season long. So much about this season was good, so much was risky and not in the hands of the fans like it was marketed, and parts of it were a step back; but overall it was the best season we have gotten in a long time and it has vaulted the show into a new era. A lot of comments about a jury voting on legacy over game and a lot of people hoping the fire-making and final moments of the season would be improved but nonetheless Season 50 was a successful season in our books and a successful finale with a huge hiccup.
9. Wistoria Wand & Sword Season 2 Ep. 7
83/100 – Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 31 – 12:30 AM*
As the magical world fully reckons with Will’s overwhelming power, the rigid hierarchy that still refuses to accept him, despite everything he’s accomplished, sharpens the show’s thematic clash between talent, status, and effort. It also signals that season 2 is slipping into another intriguing mini‑arc, one that promises to push both Will and the world around him into even sharper conflict. Episode 7 ultimately feels like another setup-heavy installment, but one that continues building tension around the eventual reunion and larger tower conflict while reinforcing the emotional core that has helped the series stand out from many fantasy anime currently airing.
10. Widow's Bay Ep. 5
82/100 – Apple TV+ – Next Ep. May 26 – 9 PM*
After a wildly successful episode 4 that topped last week’s rankings, Widow’s Bay returns with a fungus‑laced acid trip of an episode that pivots from the show’s earlier spiritual and demonic overtones toward a more grounded, almost practical explanation for the town’s mounting horrors. There’s still no clear throughline for where this season is headed, but that’s exactly the appeal. The mysterious Apple TV+ horror series has quietly become one of the most thought‑provoking and genuinely scary weekly genre shows in years, and it’s carrying a ton of momentum into the back half of its run. With the main ensemble cast now together and the mayor morphing into something genuinely unnerving, Widow’s Bay episode 5 may not be the show’s best hour, but it’s another rock‑solid chapter in one of the fastest‑growing horror series currently airing.
11. Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 Ep.8
82/100 – Apple TV+ – Next Ep. May 28
– 8:00 PM*
An extremely up and down back half to Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 had an episode 7 that was its best of the series so far after weeks of losing its impact, and episode 8 does a great job of furthering the story towards a much more interesting conclusion for its season. Yes, it’s obvious the writers are stretching the Owen and Coop storyline to help secure a third season, and the pacing this year suffers for it, but episode 8 at least does a strong job of clarifying the endgame: an inevitable clash between Ash’s dangerous underground operation and the moral high ground Coop now believes he’s standing on. With Apple TV+ releasing some of the more fun shows on TV right now, Your Friends & Neighbors seems to be slipping down their list of successes, yet it’s still delivering episodes far more interesting than anything from its mid‑season slump.
12. Dr. Stone Season 4 Ep. 32
79/100 –Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 28 – 6 AM*
As the crew begins launching equipment and rockets to determine whether there is truly a presence on the moon embodying “Why Man,” the camp holds a vote to decide if they’ll pour extra resources into turning this mission into a two‑way journey rather than a one‑way trip. While the show still never rises above a fairly simple slice‑of‑life framework, these mid‑season episodes have brought a noticeable bump in intrigue and momentum, nudging the season as a whole toward a stronger eventual rating.
13. That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 4 Ep. 7
78/100 – Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 29 – 7 AM*
Seven episodes into That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4, we finally get a genuine burst of action, as the simmering political tensions in Rimuru’s nation start to boil over into open conflict with its human opponents. The show is at its best when it throws our now‑upgraded, battle‑tested regulars, who’ve been with us for dozens of episodes, against fresh, imposing threats, and this more politically focused season has struggled to do that cleanly with such a big cast. The anime does feel like it’s picking up again, with another modestly improving episode, but it’s still a long way from recapturing even the more modest audience enthusiasm it enjoyed across its first two seasons.
14. Perfect Match Season 4 Ep. 6 & 7
77/100 – Netflix – Next Ep. May 28 – 12 AM
The first batch of episodes for Perfect Match season 4 showed a clear uptick from the show’s first three outings, driven by a cast that’s been genuinely entertaining so far. Episodes 6 and 7 don’t really build on that momentum so much as maintain it, offering exactly the kind of surface‑level, brain‑off reality TV the series is designed to deliver. Everything else on this list clearly offers more substance and value than Perfect Match, which is why it sits in last place, but it’s still undeniably entertaining and remains the show’s strongest season to date. With one finale episode left, a closer that, like most in this genre, is notoriously lackluster and anticlimactic, it feels like that 77 score is where Perfect Match is likely to stay, if not slip a bit lower.
