1. Daredevil Born Again Season 2 Ep. 8

95/100
– Disney+ – Season Complete
A gritty poster for Daredevil: Born Again showing the masked vigilante bursting through dark ink-like shadows, capturing the series’ brutal action and noir-inspired intensity.

We at the TwilightRoom are huge fans of all 4 seasons of the Daredevil show, including Born Again’s premiere season, and Season 2 comes to a close as another high octane, more grounded, but brutal season of television that is a massive hit. Matt Murdock is finally revealed to the world to be Daredevil in a courtroom scene with Wilson Fisk that is perhaps one of the best hero to villain confrontations in recent memory. The fight is nearly over here and the ending to this season felt much more earned and important than anticipated, leading to the show as a whole being a massive hit in our books. Its key for a super hero show that has its ups and downs but remains at the top of lists to stick the landing in its season finales, to bring viewers back and leave a lasting memory, and this finale does just that, earning the top spot of the week as the best episode of the Disney+ version of the show.

2. Rooster Ep. 10

90/100
– HBO MAX – Season Complete
Rooster HBO Original series poster featuring Steve Carell standing outdoors in autumn with the release date on Max.

Episode 10 of Rooster marks the end of a fantastic season of television, with an episode that really does exactly what it needed to for many reasons. The show does a great job wrapping up this first arc for Greg while providing a reason for him to come back, it does really solid job at delivering the plot lines and the relationship separations that are necessary for the health of the characters and the happiness of the viewers to really settle in, and finally it finishes season 1 on a snowy path that promises to pick up where it left off in an exciting season 2. It’s rare that a show is able to come on to the scene and deliver as good as this one has and the media attention surrounding it is certainly not enough for how well executed, acted, and written it is. We at the TwilightRoom are huge on great endings and Rooster Episode 10 ends a great on a high note with its best episode of the show.

3. Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord Ep. 9 & 10

88.0/100
– Disney + – Season Complete
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord poster featuring Darth Maul wielding a red lightsaber against a dark red and black background with Disney+ release details.

With the finale of Maul – Shadow Lord now complete and the massive animated cameo of perhaps the greatest villain of all time in Darth Vader, this animated show gives us exactly what we needed to rejuvenate hope in this massive franchise. Yes, light to dark is a common trope and storyline for Star Wars and they decide to tell the same story again, with the loss of Daki, Devon decides to choose anger and be Maul’s apprentice by the end of the show. The original shock of Vader being revealed is amazing and certainly elevates the show, but the fight sequences seemed to be just short of perfect being a little stagnant as compared to some of the inquisitor battles, nevertheless Episodes 9 & 10 deliver the highest rating of the season and with a season 2 likely coming, its a great start to a new animated series for the Star Wars franchise.

4. One Piece Ep. 1161

88/100
– Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 17 – 7:15 AM*
A vibrant One Piece artwork packed with fan-favorite pirates charging into battle, capturing the series’ chaotic energy, colorful world, and adventurous spirit.

After Loki’s first appearance in the anime last episode, the Elbaph arc has clearly picked up momentum with another excellent installment. This week showcases Robin’s excitement for her long-awaited reunion with Saul and the relationship between Luffy and Loki progressing in the best, most comedic Luffy-way possible. Sometimes it’s hard to determine what type of a relationship a new character will have with the straw hats antagonist to the protagonist, and Loki may be the most complex yet. The more we make our way into the most hyped up arc in the show’s history, the more the episode’s quality improves and 1161 fits the mold perfectly with another top-of-the-list-entry.

5. Witch Hat Atelier Ep. 6

83/100
– Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 11 – 7 AM*
Witch Hat Atelier anime poster featuring young witches in blue robes and pointed hats surrounded by magical glowing effects.

Witch Hat Atelier had a breakthrough moment with Episode 5, capturing the attention of casual anime fans who got their first glimpse of the series through Qifrey’s viral dragon sequence from the episode. The show in actuality is much more simple and calm than that scene, and in Episode 6, Witch Hat Atelier does a great job of blending the use of magic and animation style with the true plot of the show, a master apprentice-style calmer anime with a forbidden subplot looming in the shadows. It definitely feels like a show that will be a slow burn to its main conspiracy plot and certainly will have some more tedious or basic episodes, but Episode 6 was a great blend of both sides of the coin of this show and continues to elevate this first season to the top of the list of debut animes for 2026.

6. Widow's Bay Ep. 3

83/100
– Apple TV+ – Next Ep. May 12 – 9 PM*
A moody poster for Widow’s Bay featuring a serious man clutching a folder in a dim office, suggesting a mystery filled with secrets, grief, and investigation.

Widows Bay had a great first two-episode introduction, leaning into the horror aspects well and establishing our main character, the mayor, as this paranoid but determined lead, and Episode 3 continues the moment quite well in both departments. Here we start to see the horror and ghostly elements creep into the town more and more with the inaugural swim leaving a bloody mark, but also seeing how it is beginning to affect the guests of the island and their connection to the locals. The whole show is this unsure world that continues to creep in from all angles and after another solid episode leaves more to be desired and room for expansion for the rest of the season. It’s a great start to a new show from Apple TV+ and looks to continue the momentum forward.

7. Survivor Season 50 Ep. 11

85/100
– Hulu/Paramount+ – Next Ep. May 13 – 8 PM*
A fiery anniversary poster for Survivor 50 featuring iconic contestants surrounding the host, celebrating the long-running reality series’ legacy of competition, strategy, and survival.

Survivor has been getting lucky to say the least with their twists late in the season, and Rick Devens has continued to take the show to the next level. With two episodes left, it looks like the show is going to shape up to be a really exciting finish. Episode 11 is good, not outstanding, its a high standard for season 50, but a really ordinary challenge and twist with a little cheating scandal in the middle from Tiff, the only true elevating part of the episode is the tribal council that has Cirie and Rizzo flexing their stuff hoping to be the next winner of the show. This live finale is setting up to be an outstanding finish and if any one of these fan favorites gets their first win, the sadness of Ozzy going home with yet another Idol in his pocket will be erased from memory.

8. Wistoria Wand & Sword Season 2 Ep. 5

82/100
– Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 17 – 12:30 AM*
Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2 anime poster featuring a blue-haired character standing among floating purple petals with fantasy castle scenery in the background.

After a two-episode climax at the beginning of Season 2 for Wistoria that elevated the show to new heights, Episode 5 returns to the aftermath of the big battle and the loss of all the characters lost in the fights. It’s a necessary 20-minutes that does more than just fill the space, it shows that this show can produce great animation every week and can be just as good in the quiet aftermath as it can be at the high-octane wizard-style action sequences that have won audiences over. Will must now adapt to his newfound strength and, more importantly, the favor he’s gained in the world of magic and among his classmates—a shift that will define the second half of the season.

9. The Boys Season 5 Ep. 6

82/100
– Prime Video – Next Ep. May 13 – 3 AM*
Invincible final season poster featuring Omni-Man floating above Earth with the Prime Video logo and “coming soon” text.

After a giant disappointment last week from The Boys, it is no secret a big improvement and leap forward needed to be made to make the show feel like it is moving in the right direction, and whether it was not great writing, lack of lot advancement, and characters being shifted to the back of the plot, Episode 6 continues the trend of a decent episode of television, being heavily misplaced in the final season of one of the biggest shows ever. That is not to say some of the plot points here are fine, like the V1 being given to Homelander, its an entertaining episode, but with two episodes left and nothing done to place Hughie and Butcher as the main role of the show, the lack of deaths that seemed to be promised by the show, and really the worst material over the last two episodes the show has ever had, we are very concerned for how this landing is about to go.

10. Hacks Season 5 Ep. 6 & 7

80.0/100
– HBO MAX – Next Ep. May 14 – 9 PM*
Hacks final season poster featuring Deborah and Ava walking through a glowing Las Vegas backdrop for the HBO Max comedy series.

Last week’s switch to the two episode per-week format for Hacks’ final season was a good one with two quality episodes, but this week with the rollout of Episodes 6 & 7, which were collectively the two weakest episodes of the show in a long time, it shows the weakness of this strategy as the show moves closer to its series finale. The show has always been an episode-by-episode comedy with slow-moving larger plots in the background, but these last two episodes failed to land comedically. With the humor falling flat, only those background plots carried weight, resulting in a much lower rating. With three episodes left, Hacks has plenty of ground to cover and the runway to do it, but it can’t afford missteps like this week’s lackluster release.

11. M.I.A

79.6/100
– Peacock–Season Complete
M.I.A poster with a large illustrated portrait and dark background

There is so much to like here in M.I.A, the thriller really is intriguing and the ability to embed the visuals with Miami culture is something people have been desperate for in the past years and it is delivered here. Our main character is extremely fun, and the backstories and culture being set up are clever making M.I.A. yet another at least solid entry from Peacock over the last year or two. Where the show starts to fall short and can clearly improve for future seasons is in its dialogue and screenplay, while the story itself is a thrilling piece of crime drama television, the line to line writing and the delivery of many crucial emotional lines comes off stale. While it doesn’t seem like it is entirely the actor’s fault for this delivery, there is clear emphasis on improvement through the cast as this show continues to progress hopefully after a renewal. The premiere season of M.I.A is a lot of fun and easy to fall in love with, but needs a good amount of tweaks to elevate to something great, however it most definitely deserves an audience and more seasons to come.

12. Lord of the Flies

79.3/100
– Netflix – Series Complete
Lord of the Flies poster with a boy standing in a jungle

The new adaptation for one of the most popular novels of all time, in the survival-thriller horror genre returns in the form of a series for the first time in one of the most unique takes on cinematography in a long time. Coming from the same people that made the highly successful and stylized Adolescence, we return to highlighted child acting, this time led exclusively by the kids, as we get about as faithful an adaptation of Lord of the Flies as possible. The cinematography here is that of a color gradient and enhancement designed to make the terrain and abandonment of the island feel as severe as possible and for some audiences and at sometimes for us at the Twilight Room really works, but in others feels a little too overused and aimlessly styled for this type of character-focused study. There is a lot to love about this limited series and the acting performances top that list, but the good is outweighed by the indifference for me here as there is not anything about this that stands out as a huge hit or worth your time, unless you want an updated rendition of your favorite book from middle school.

13. Euphoria Season 3 Ep. 5

78/100
– HBO MAX – Next Ep. May 17 – 9:00 PM*
Euphoria Season 3 HBO poster featuring Rue relaxing inside a truck in a desert setting with the 2026 release date.

Episode 5 of Euphoria is a difficult episode to tackle as it feels like the logical culmination of everything that has been happening so far in the season, but it really didn’t have the impact expected. It gives you that icky feeling common to Sam Levinson’s work, but not in the good way. Instead, it leaves you wondering whether this is bold storytelling or a jump off the deep end, and so far, it’s landed nowhere decisively. This show remains polarizing, and Season 3 has amplified the discourse around whether it’s actually working. Episode 5 splits the difference in a way that may detract from the season more than it adds.

14. Dr. Stone Season 4 Ep. 30

78/100
–Crunchyroll – Next Ep. May 14 – 6 AM*
An official promotional poster for "Dr. STONE" features Senku Ishigami standing confidently in the foreground alongside a group of anime characters positioned in front of a massive space rocket under a bright sky.

The most recent episode of Dr. Stone pits Chrome on a secret mission to try and create a computer that will help him move along the process of making sure Senku and the crew can get home from the moon after their journey to confront Why Man. It’s yet another basic episode that keeps the same font and the same type of storytelling and copy and pastes it over, for us at the TwilightRoom. The show is going to sit here at this rating until something changes to make this show feel like more than just an on-repeat lower tier new generation.

15. Citadel Season 2

77.2/100
– Prime Video – Season Complete
Citadel poster with a woman holding a gun in front of the cast

Citadel Season 1 is one of the biggest flops in television history and required so much fixing to make this show move on from its rocky start into something the Russo Brothers can be proud of, and Season 2 is definitely better than its first but is far from their full return to form. Sebastian Stan is fun here and Stanley Tucci is the clear standout character but the spy thriller lacks heart, it’s a bunch of twists and turns with no real impact beyond that. It’s a nice Sunday watch and this franchise is seemingly continuing to be pumped out, so a step in the right direction is better than nothing.

16. Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 Ep.6

76/100
– Apple TV+ – Next Ep. May 14 – 8:00 PM*
A tense minimalist poster for Your Friends & Neighbors featuring a close-up of Jon Hamm partially obscured by a gloved hand, hinting at secrecy and suburban suspense.

Your Friends & Neighbors Episode 6 attempts to tackle loss in what appears to be a pause for the characters to stop and reevaluate, but it comes off as filler episode that really feels out of place as the character lost is not really embedded in the plot enough for the funeral and the reactions to mean much for our main characters. In reality, the episode is well-formatted, but it’s simply not what this show is about. In a season already stalling on plot and rapidly losing momentum from its new character addition, the timing couldn’t be worse, perhaps confirming Season 2 as a step down from what was a solid foundation for a promising long-term series.
